Seat in the Senate

Teacher: So, has anyone read the newspaper? The governor of Illinois was arrested for trying to sell Obama's seat in the Senate.

Student 1: Wait, so he's selling the actual chair? What's wrong with that?

Student 2: It's because the chair wasn't his to sell; it belongs to the government.

Teacher: No, not the chair, the seat. The position. The job.

Student 1: Oh... So?
